Tamalaki was born not just from fabric and thread but from transformation.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, life in Nairobi, the cold, fast-paced city, no longer reflected who I was becoming. I craved warmth, healing, and a new beginning. So I moved to Watamu, Kenya’s serene coastline, to start again. With the support of the hotel organisation I worked for, a seed was planted not just for a brand, but for a movement.
I’m Britany, the co-founder of Tamalaki, and this brand is my love letter to women who walk boldly and dress with quiet power.
Tamalaki was never just mine. It was mainly built by my mother, Fundi Eunice, a gifted tailor whose hands carry years of experience and deep Kenyan artistry. “Fundi” is a Swahili word for tailor or craftsperson, and she is exactly that: the hands behind the detail, the woman behind the woman.
While Eunice brought skill, structure, and discipline to every garment, I became the face, the muse, and the creative direction behind the brand. Together, we shaped a vision of fashion that blends African identity with global elegance.
We also opened our world to a wider creative family working with local artisans, models, and storytellers who helped us bring every set, silhouette, and stitch to life. Every Tamalaki piece carries many hands and many hearts, its community in motion.
Tamalaki is for women who love
- European summers
- African safaris
- Luxury beach escapes
- High-class weddings
- Curated, conscious, minimalist fashion with an African soul
From Nairobi’s grey skies to Watamu’s warm breeze, from a quiet restart to a powerful runway Tamalaki was born to clothe the woman who leads her own story.

This is our legacy.
And it’s just getting started!
